Six of America's 20 top-selling SUVs and crossovers in December 2012 were General Motors products. Another six hailed from Dearborn or Auburn Hills. Hyundai and Kia combined to land two utilities among the top 20, with the final six coming from Honda, Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru.
It was a particularly good month for the Lexus RX, good enough to pull its year end total up to 95,381 units.
Particularly good? Ford's Escape finished 20,000 sales back of the leader, Honda's CR-V. In this particularly strong CR-V sales year, Honda grew its leading utility's U.S. sales volume by 63,279 units.
Ranking vehicles by December volume is as interesting as ranking vehicles by March or October or November totals. Which is to say, let's move on to the 2012 year end totals.
These were the 20 best-selling SUVs in America in December 2012. And a successful bunch they were.
