2012 Canada Vehicle Rankings - Top 262 Best-Selling Vehicles In Canada - Every Vehicle Ranked

2013 Ford Atlas Concept
Ford Says This Resembles The Future F-150, So Something
Like This Will Soon Be Canada's Best-Selling Vehicle
Canadians registered more new Ford F-Series pickups in 2012 than ever before. In fact, no vehicle line has ever sold this often in Canada during any calendar year in history. F-Series sales were up 10% in 2012, more than four percentage points better than the overall new vehicle market's year-over-year improvement.

Numerous other vehicles posted Canadian sales records in 2012. The Ram P/U, Hyundai Elantra, Honda CR-V, and Volkswagen Jetta were some of the more popular vehicles to do so. Also, the Hyundai Equus tied its all-time sales record, which it set last year. 0.09% of the Hyundais sold in Canada in 2012 were Equus sedans.
2013 Toyota Furia Corolla Concept
This Detroit Concept, The Toyota Furia,
Is An 11th-Gen Corolla Prelude
The list of Canada's 30 best-selling vehicles in 2012 was published yesterday, so we've covered that story already. From the 31st spot through the 35th, you'll find the second-best-selling German brand automobile, 2011's 26th-best-selling vehicle, two Nissans, and the GMC Terrain. Combine the Matrix with the Corolla, as Toyota does in the United States, and the Toyota duo would overtake the Grand Caravan as Canada's fourth-best-selling vehicle. Combine the GMC Terrain with its twin, the Chevrolet Equinox, and the pair would rank ahead of the Chevrolet Cruze.

Of course, there are many pairs; and many platform-mates in this lengthy list, none more twin-like or popular than the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado. Combined, these two General Motors trucks outsold the Ram. Separated, which is how GM markets them, they were Canada's seventh and tenth-best-selling vehicles in 2012, down from fifth and eighth last year.

The Fiat 500 ended 2012 as Canada's 52nd-best-selling vehicle, 39 spots ahead of the Mini Cooper and all its variants. BMW was tops among luxury vehicles with the 3-Series, 618 sales ahead of the surging Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
2013 Volkswagen Crossblue Concept
The Touareg Ranked 133rd In Canadian Sales Volume In 2012.
This Production Version Of This CrossBlue Should End Up Much Higher
Besides the F-Series, Canada's best-selling truck, other segment leaders included the Honda Civic, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Camry, Ford Escape, Lexus RX, and the Dodge Grand Caravan. Aside from vehicles which weren't on sale for the full length of 2011 (Verano, iQ, i MiEV, Prius V, Volt, Evoque etc.), the Lexus GS, Kia Optima, and Volkswagen Beetle posted some of the best year-over-year increases. Sales of the regular Toyota Prius jumped 117%. Kia Rio volume more than doubled. The Chrysler 300 and 200 both recorded near-90% jumps.

The gigantic table you'll see below is now sortable, so you can rank vehicles by their year-over-year change or 2011 volume. Or you can click the Vehicle column header to sort vehicles alphabetically. Keep in mind, italicized unranked lines are nothing more than available breakdowns, already included in the model's total, not in addition to the model's total - they'll be often be separated from their overarching vehicle line (the non-hybrid Camry and Camry Hybrid from the overall Camry, for example) when you sort certain columns.
2014 Lexus IS
The Lexus IS Should Sell Much More Often Once It Looks Like This
You can access historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any model that's still marketed by selecting a make and model at GCBC's Sales Stats home. Select specific monthly or yearly best seller lists at the Best Sellers page. Keep checking GoodCarBadCar.net over the coming days to see segment-by-segment breakdowns for December and 2012 as a whole.

But first, study this list to understand most everything you need to about Canadian auto sales in 2012. 262 different nameplates are ranked. Quite a few of them, including most Toyota Canada products, come with even more detail. After all, you must needs know that 5% of the Chrysler 200s sold were convertibles.

Red font indicates year-over-year declining sales
* Total Prius Sales equal 10,041, good enough for 48th
^ Total Genesis sales equal 2979, good enough for 111th
^^ Not sold to retail customers
Italicized unranked lines are nothing more than available breakdowns, already included in the model's total, not in addition to the model's total. Sales data for brands such as  Ferrari and Lamborghini are unfortunately not broken down by model. ANDC estimates say sales for those brands in 2012 were 228  and 128, respectively. Maybach sold 4 cars. Total Maserati and Bentley volume is reported, but not by specific models.
