Nissan Canada's dreadful decline in July 2012 - sales fell 33% year-over-year - didn't bode well for Nissan's avoidance of this monthly worst sellers list. Judged by year-over-year drops, the four worst-selling cars in Canada in July were Nissans.
From the Xterra's 82% slide to the Cube's 75% fall, four Nissans beat out the Buick Regal, Audi R8, Porsche Cayman, Volvo XC90, Dodge Charger, and Acura ZDX by landing, in distinctly embarrassing fashion, at the top of the chart. Among mainstream brands, two Nissans sold in smaller numbers than any other vehicle in Canada last month. The second table below shows the Quest tied for fifth, the Armada in seventh, and the Leaf in eighth. And even when premium vehicles are taken into account, many of which are expected to sell infrequently, the 370Z and Cube make appearances, as does the $103,980 GT-R, as you can see in the third table.
No matter how you count it, Nissans sold poorly in July. Year-to-date, the brand is up 1% in a market that's enjoyed a 7% boost. In July, when the market grew 5% year-over-year, Nissan slid from its June position as the seventh-best-selling automaker in Canada to 13th spot. On the plus side, Infiniti sales rose 20% in July and the Rogue posted a 7% increase, enough to make it Canada's 15th-best-selling utility vehicle.
Canada's 10 worst-selling vehicles are ranked three different ways in the table below. Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for all these SUVs can be found by accessing the first dropdown menu at GCBC's Sales Stats home.
