The $53,000 2012 Audi S4, Part Of The Audi A4 Lineup, Canada's 3rd-Best-Selling Luxury Vehicle Line In April 2012 |
In order for the BMW 3-Series to end 2012 as Canada's number one premium brand automobile, it will need to beat the C-Class by an average of 77 units per month from May to December. This is certainly not an insurmountable challenge for the 3-Series. The new sedan is an attractive proposition for any entry-luxury car buyer. But C-Class sales are rising fast. 4Matic all-wheel drive can now be added free of charge on C-Class sedans (where available), while finance rates over 60 months are a low 1.9%. Conversely, 60 month rates on the new 3-Series sedan are at 4.9%.
70% of the ten most popular luxury vehicles in Canada last month wore German badges. That's consistent with recent history, the exact same percentage achieved by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW in the first three months of 2012 and in 2011 as a whole.
Hyundai sold 109 Genesis sedans in April 2012. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque fell from 27th to 31st in April. The Range Rover Sport slotted in behind, just ahead of another former Ford PAG vehicle, the Volvo C30.
Turning the conversation back to cars which actually made an appearance on the list of Canada's top 30 best-selling luxury vehicles in April, none posted better year-over-year jumps than the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz M-Class. None slid harder than the Cadillac CTS and Lexus ES. The Lexus RX450h accounted for 43 of the RX's 591 total sales. Porsche sold 21 Cayenne Turbos in April.
