With a very little bit of help from the G-Wagen (sales of which Mercedes-Benz Canada includes with the GL-Class), Mercedes-Benz's biggest SUV sold more than twice as often as the Cadillac Escalade in April 2012. Sales of the Infiniti QX56 were nearly cut in half as Lexus LX570 sales tripled last month. 

Range Rover sales, up 10% through the first four months of 2012, fell 19% in the month of April. Aside from the QX and Rangie, the four other large luxury SUVs on sale in Canada posted year-over-year increases. 

Such positive news was not so common in the large luxury car category. The BMW 7-Series was the only luxo limo that avoided a total slide in April. Year-to-date, the Porsche Panamera is down by less than 1%, but the fact remains, only the 7-Series has been able to sell at a faster rate than it did in the first four months of 2011.

This mostly irrelevant race to be the best-selling large luxury car in Canada is tight so far this year. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class (and its CL-Class coupe sibling) is just seven sales behind the 7er. The Benz duo ended 2011 212 sales ahead of the BMW.

Not a single LS600hL was sold in April; only two LS hybrids have been sold so far this year.
