As a result of a best ever Canadian sales month, the Subaru Forester cracked Canada's list of 10 best-selling SUVs in October 2011. Finishing the month 23 sales ahead of the Jeep Grand Cherokee meant the Subaru Forester became Canada's tenth most popular utility vehicle in the tenth month of 2011.
Atop the list, as it almost always is, sits the Ford Escape. Sales of Ford's smallest SUV are up 5% this year having kept pace with the overall market's growth by improving 2% in October. The Escape beat the second-ranked Honda CR-V by 634 sales. CR-V sales shot up 83% compared with October 2010.
With no Jeep on the list only 40% of the Top 10 wear American badges. There are two Korean utilities, the closely related (decreasingly popular) Hyundai Santa Fe and the (increasingly popular) Kia Sorento. The other 40% are made up by Japanese utility vehicles: CR-V, Forester, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Rogue. In all, nine brands make an appearance.
