October's Canadian sales figures for 36 luxury cars are listed in the tables below. 31 of those luxury cars were eligible to post year-over-year sales declines in October 2011, 21 did so. Of the smaller/cheaper group of 18 luxury cars in the first table, 12 reported drops.
Many of those declines were significant. The Lexus HS250h, rumoured to be on its death bed, slid 84%. The about-to-be-replaced Mercedes-Benz B-Class was down 76%. The BMW 3-Series - its E90 generation dying off - lost nearly half its volume from October 2010 to October 2011. Cadillac CTS sales are up 6% this year but fell 25% last month. The Volvo S40 and V50 are dead - the Volvo C30 isn't, and C30 sales fell 20%. Sales of the Infiniti G are down 18% this year; down 19% in October.
After the jump you'll see the October 2011 sales table and market share chart for slightly larger and/or more expensive luxury cars. There, the anonymous Acura RL, still-fresh BMW 5-Series, dead Cadillac STS, will-it-everbe-successful Infiniti M, just-get-an-XJ Jaguar XF, disconnected Lexus ES, third-gen Lexus GS, soon-to-get-uglier Lincoln MKS, and handsome Volvo XC70 all reported lower sales this October than last. Remember, the Canadian market grew 2% in October and is up 1.6% this year.
Don't forget, all these sales figures can be seen in GoodCarBadCar's new searchable sales database in which monthly (back to January 2010) and yearly results (back as far as 2002) for specific models can be easily found. Just check out the dropdown menu at the top right of the page.
