Top 30 Best-Selling Luxury Vehicles In America - March 2012

2012 BMW 3-Series Cornering
F30 BMW 3-Series
Which luxury cars didn't make the cut? Audi sold 1479 A6 sedans in March 2012, Chevrolet Corvette sales hit 1376, Land Rover sold 1356 Range Rover Sports, and Infiniti QX56 sales fell 1.5% to 1334. Sales of the BMW 7-Series rose to 1280, Porsche Cayenne sales jumped from 1049 to 1255, and the BMW 1-Series was up 4.8% to 1067. You won't see any of those nameplates on the list of America's 30 best-selling luxury vehicles from March 2012.

There are Audis, the most popular of which was the A4. There are American nameplates, too: three Cadillacs and three Lincolns. Infiniti also cracked the top four with the G sedan and coupe. But you won't find any Land Rovers or Porsches in the top 30 - the Range Rover Sport and Cayenne were brand leaders.

2011 BMW 5-Series Cornering
F10 BMW 5-Series
BMW, however, managed to land four vehicles in the top 30 without assistance from the 7-Series and 1-Series. This isn't surprising. The Good 12-winning 3-Series was America's best-selling premium car in March 2012 and the only car in the top five capable of avoiding declining year-over-year sales. BMW's 5-Series happens to be the next car on the list with a year-over-year increase, although 5-Series sales were lower in Q1 of 2012 than in Q1 of 2011. The 3-Series was more popular than the Lexus IS, Audi A4, and Acura TSX combined.

You'll find 18 passenger car nameplates in the top 30 along with a dozen utility vehicles. Two big SUVs from Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac ranked 26th and 27th. Three smaller candidates from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW finished in 22nd, 23rd, and 25th. The GLK, Q5, and X3 were in 26th, 24th, and 15th, respectively, in February. One year ago, the GLK, Q5, and X3 finished March 2011 in 24th, 21st, and 18th.

As always, check the dropdown menu at the top right of this page in order to find monthly and yearly sales figures for these 30 best-selling luxury models and every other vehicle currently on sale in North America.
