After a one month hiatus, the Ford F-Series was back on top as Canada's best-selling in December 2011. Its pickup truck rivals trailed in third, fourth, and fifth positions. Honda Civic sales were up 23% year-over-year to 5525, enough to make the Civic Canada's best-selling car and Canada's second-best-selling vehicle in December.
Canada's leading SUV/crossover was the Ford Escape, the sixth-best-selling vehicle overall. Riding along with the Escape in Canada's top 30 were Toyota's RAV4, the Dodge Journey, Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Equinox, Nissan Rogue, Ford Edge, Kia Sorento, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Hyundai Santa Fe. That means one-third of Canada's 30 best-selling vehicles list was filled by utility vehicles which found between 949 and 3001 buyers last month.
Sales of Canada's favourite minivan plunged 24%, but the Dodge Grand Caravan still finished December with 2.6% of Canada's new vehicle market. Sales of the Honda Odyssey jumped 11%, yet December's second-best-selling minivan sold once for every 2.9 Grand Caravans.
