Top 30 Best-Selling Luxury Vehicles In Canada - December 2011

The Infiniti FX was Canada's
31st-best-selling premium vehicle in December

In the lead-up to the launch of BMW's F30 3-Series, Canadian sales of the current E90 3-Series are in free fall. The BMW ended December 2011 as Canada's second-best-selling premium car, no mean feat, but sales plunged 40%, year-over-year. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class, a direct 3-Series rival, was up 18% in December, enough to earn a victory as Canada's best-selling premium vehicle and Canada's 13th-best-selling car overall.

Canada's favourite premium utility vehicle in December was the Lexus RX. Other SUVs and crossovers in the top ten included the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, Lincoln MKX, Mercedes-Benz GLK, BMW X3, and Acura RDX. Not including the Volvo XC70 - it's just a V70 on stilts - 16 members of this list of Canada's top 30 best-selling premium vehicles were SUVs/crossovers. The list includes a new GoodCarBadCar Good 12 winner, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

Aside from the 3-Series' dreadful 40% decline, no year-over-year fall (among cars in the top 30) was worse than the Cadillac CTS's 29% plunge. The Acura MDX fell 26%. Infiniti G sales slid 24%. On the flip side, BMW X3 sales jumped 421% - BMW didn't really have any X3s to sell in December 2010. The same story was true at Volvo where sales of the gorgeous S60 jumped 304%. Audi Q5 sales rose 66% and the Acura TL was up 56%.
