Sales of the #1 Ford Escape slid 13% last month, yet the Escape remains up 4% through eleven months and its November best-selling crown was preserved. The Honda CR-V surged as though possessed, jumping 135% from its November 2010 totals, but the Escape finished 169 sales ahead. Both automakers are keen on ridding dealer lots of outgoing models as the new CR-V and Escape come on stream soon.
For the Honda CR-V to end 2011 as Canada's best-selling SUV, it'll need to out-sell the Escape by 18,045 units in December. That's not going to happen. This ain't America - Canada's best-selling vehicle in November was the Honda Civic. With 6817 sales.
November sales figures for 60% of Canada's best-selling SUVs were lower this November than last, although sales of Kia's scream-of-a-deal Sorento dipped by only six units. Sorento sales are up 53% this year.
Not since September has The Good 12-winning Jeep Wrangler been on Canada's best-selling SUVs list. Given the fact that none of the ten which actually are on this month's list are genuine sport-utility vehicles, that's a sad fact.
