February 2013 Mini USA Sales Charts

Mini USA reported a 13.6% year-over-year decline in February 2013 as sales of the company's core car models slid sharply. Countryman volume jumped 28.4%; sales of the Mini Roadster shot up 64.5% in comparison to its first month on sale, February 2012.

Through the first two months of 2013, sales of the Cooper Hardtop are down 9.2% to 3640. The Convertible has fallen 39.1% to just 298 units. Sales of the Mini Clubman are down 45.8% to 407. Mini Coupe sales are down 46.3% to 215 units - it's the lowest-volume Mini variant. Two months of selling the Roadster have brought about 346 sales, up 215% from the 110 Mini sold in February of last year. Countryman volume has risen 20.6% to 3078 units. That's 38.6% of total Mini volume.

The Mini brand was worth 16.8% of BMW-Mini USA volume in February 2013, down from 19% a year ago, down from 18.2% in January.


In comparison to potential competitors, Fiat 500 sales rose 2.3% to 3302 units in February. The Beetle was integral to Volkswagen USA's growth in February as sales of the Jetta sedan fell 11.1% and Passat volume dropped 8%. Total Beetle sales hit 3696, up 184% from February of last year. 705 of the 3696 units were Beetle Convertibles, the remaining 2991 were obviously hardtops.
