Top 10 Best-Selling SUVs In Canada - February 2011

Ford Canada has sold 5765 Escapes so far this year, 28% ahead of last year's two-month pace and 2420 ahead of the Honda CR-V January/February total. The Dodge Journey is gaining even greater traction in the Canadian marketplace now that we know the 2011 model is such an improvement - Canada has always taken more of a liking to the Journey than they have in America. Dodge posted a 63.2% year-over-year jump in Journey sales.

In past months the Chevrolet Equinox has been on a tear, showing potential best-selling SUVesque momentum. In February, however, Equinox sales fell 7.1% compared to February 2010 and 27.6% from January. The Canadian new vehicle market grew by 13.6% from January to February, so an explanation for the Equinox's relatively poor performance would reasonably be based on the positivity or negativity of incentives.

For the most part, Canada's ten most popular utility vehicles are on the smaller side. What you don't see on this list is the new-for-2011 Mitsubishi RVR. Sales of the RVR (Outlander Sport to Americans) rose 53.7% from January 2011's totals, pushing the RVR to eleventh overall on total sales of 695. That's more than a hundred units above the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, 180 beyond the well-established Subaru Forester, and 395 ahead of the 2011 Nissan Juke. Mitsubishi RVR pricing starts at $19,998, the exact same base MSRP as the much-loved Juke. Juke sales dropped from 331 in January to 300 in February.
