In the first six months of 2012 Canadians have purchased or leased 866,000 new automobiles. 15.5% of those new purchases have resulted in full-size trucks being driven home (or to the workplace); another 9.2% were either Canada's best-selling car, best-selling minivan, or best-selling SUV.
Among Canada's four major segment-leading vehicles - which happen to be ranked first, third, fourth, and ninth in this list of 254 vehicles - only the Ford Escape is in a true battle to hold on to its long-held crown. The Honda CR-V is only 1004 units abaft. Ford's F-Series sells 1.5 times for every single sale of its chief truck rival, the Ram P/U. The Honda Civic's passenger car lead over the Hyundai Elantra is 6572-units strong. And the Dodge Grand Caravan owns 55% of the Canadian minivan market. The second-ranked minivan from Toyota, Canada's 38th-best-selling vehicle overall, does not completely own the other 45%.
GoodCarBadCar has published many more details right in the list of Canada's all vehicle rankings for the first half of 2012. You'll see, for example, year-to-date and year-over-year sales results for not just the Hyundai Elantra, but the Elantra Touring. Not just the Toyota Camry but the Camry Hybrid, too. Not just the Volkswagen Golf, but the sporty GTI, as well. When information was made available, said info was placed in the table.
Also, at the bottom of the table, before you get to the key links to other important posts, there's a group of duos you can check out for total sales info. You know, the Silverado/Sierra kind of thing. Feel free to suggest any other duets you'd like to hear.
Historical monthly and yearly sales data for every vehicle currently on sale in North America can always be accessed through the first dropdown menu at GCBC's Sales Stats home or near the top right of this page. It's like an auto sales data store which never closes and where the price of everything is $0.00. De rien.
Below, every vehicle sold in Canada in 2012 has been ranked by, well... by how many times it sold in the first six months of 2012. Between January and June, Canadians acquired 90 Jaguar XJ sedans, good enough to rank the XJ ahead of the Nissan GT-R; not good enough to land it in front of the Lexus HS250h. This is the kind of thing you learn by checking out the Every Vehicle Ranked post. Vital freakin' information. Click past the jump if you don't need to see the top 30 because you already perused what I uploaded to Sympatico Autos. Italicized unranked lines are nothing more than available breakdowns, already included in the model's total, not in addition to the model's total.

Red font indicates year-over-year declining sales
Italicized unranked lines are nothing more than available breakdowns, already included in the model's total, not in addition to the model's total. Sales data for brands such as Ferrari and Lamborghini are unfortunately not broken down by model. ANDC estimates say sales for those brands through June were 114 and 65, respectively. Total Maserati and Bentley volume is reported, but not by specific models. Maybach sold one car in the first half of 2012.
