Top 10 Best-Selling SUVs In Canada - January 2011

Starting off 2011 right where we left off in 2010, the Ford Escape was Canada's best-selling utility vehicle in January. Some way off in the distance, the Dodge Journey, Chevrolet Equinox, and Hyundai Santa Fe were trailing in the next three positions. Santa Fe sales dropped 26.6% compared with January 2010. Most notable on the plus side was the 2011 Kia Sorento, up 6160%. The new and improved second-generation began selling in stronger volumes last February, so from now on, the Sorento's year-over-year improvements won't be quite so drastic.

Apart from the Santa Fe, popular dwindlers included the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, down 29% and 9.9% respectively. The CR-V was Canada's third most popular SUV in 2010; the RAV4 was fifth.

In the end, the January story is all about the Ford Escape. Sales were up 73.5% over the same period of last year and down just 10.9% compared with December 2010 in a market that fell 24.3% from December to January.

These are the 10 Best-Selling SUVs in Canada from January 2011.
