COMPACT LUXURY CAR SALES AND ENTRY LUXURY CAR SALES IN CANADA - MAY 2010

Mercedes C Class
Danger, danger: high Mercedes-Benz C-Class sales. BMW Canada's got to be on alert after May sales revealed an extremely tight race for small luxury car sales leadership. Not only that, if Mercedes-Benz had overtaken the 3-Series, the C-Class would've been the best-selling luxury car in Canada. The difference between the C-Class and 3-Series in May, 97 cars, was greater than the combined total of Volvo S40/V50 sales; less than Acura's TSX total. That's tight enough to worry BMW, rest assured, particularly when one realizes Mercedes-Benz is selling just one C-Class bodystyle in Canada.

3-Series sedans, coupes, convertibles, and wagons were responsible for 4,608 of BMW's 9,958 sales in Canada through the first five months of 2010.

One class beneath the 3-Series and C-Class, the Volvo C30 and Lexus HS250h are struggling to attract buyers of any kind. Apparently beauty isn't enough for the C30 to succeed; fuel efficiency not sufficient for the Lexus HS. It should be pointed out that none of the cars shown in the compact luxury car sales Graph are hot, not by any stretch of the imagination.
