February 2013 - GCBC's Most Popular Auto Sales Figures

As you might expect, February isn't the most heavily-trafficked month at GoodCarBadCar. The most current auto sales figures represent only 8.3% of a calendar year. In the prior month, the posts we publish in January relate not only to December but to the whole year. 

Consequently, some of the most popular articles on GoodCarBadCar in February didn't relate to the January results from the U.S. and Canada, but to 2012 as a whole.

In the meantime, the list of the most commonly searched models on GoodCarBadCar changed a fair bit in February. Have a look back at the January rankings to see some of the differences. We've included a third list this month of the most popular car reviews at GoodCarBadCar. Manufacturers are beginning to send cars for GCBC to test en masse, proving yet again that GCBC's audience is a group that requires as much information on new cars as possible.

U.S. Auto Sales Brand Rankings - February 2013

It's worth noting, too, that the most commonly searched car on GoodCarBadCar wasn't even twice as popular as the tenth-ranked vehicle, which happens to come from the same brand. They're a tightly-knit group at the top.

2008 U.S. Vehicle Sales Rankings - Top 279 Best-Selling Vehicles - Every Vehicle Ranked By American Sales Volume

Honda's Civic Was The Only Vehicle In The Top
10 To Post A Year-Over-Year Sales Increase

Americans registered nearly three million fewer vehicles in 2008 than in 2007, and the decline had an impact, in one way or another, on nearly every automaker. 

Yet the order of America's five best-selling vehicles remained the same as the year before. Despite their 25% declines - much worse than the overall market's 18% drop - the two top-selling trucks held steady as America's two top-selling vehicles overall.

The exhaustive table below is sortable, so as much as it's a ranking of U.S. vehicle sales in 2008, it can also be an alphabetical listing of the 279 vehicles nameplates which were sold that year. You can also rank vehicles by year-over-year change, in which you'll the Dodge Journey near the top and the Buick Rendezvous at the bottom. Sales data for brands such as Aston Martin (1600), Ferrari (1602), Lamborghini (980), Lotus (2600), Maybach (119), Rolls-Royce (414) etc. are unfortunately not broken down by model. Bracketed figures are ANDC estimates. Maserati sold 2509 vehicles in 2008, down from 2540. Bentley sold 2693, down 32.5% from 3990.
