MINIVAN SALES IN CANADA - APRIL 2010

Chrysler's struggles haven't been felt nearly as keenly in Canada as in the United States, speaking on very general terms. A deeper look manifests continuing troubles - only a handful of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep models sold in large volumes in April. Moreover, a quick look through the major discount list reveals plenty of Chrysler's models are selling way, way, way below list price. "Sell a lot, make a little", the unknown adage says.

One bright spot in Chrysler Canada's picture is the Dodge Grand Caravan and its stablemate, the Chrysler Town & Country. Although April's minivan market included a few other smaller players with nearly nonexistent sales (Nissan Quest, Hyundai Entourage), the Dodge Grand Caravan's total of 5,917 sales is a major dose of "Who cares about the Swagger Wagon Ad?" from Chrysler. Apart from the spankin' new 2011 Toyota Sienna, only the mini-minivans from Kia and Mazda came within spitting distance of the Chrysler/Dodge duo. Spitting distance? Only barely - you'd need to hawk up a nasty loogie to reach the CT&C and DGC.
