2007's BEAUTIES

What do the Lamborghini Reventon, Mercedes C-class, Audi A5, and Opel GT have in common?

They're considered to be among 2007's most beautiful cars - in their segments - as decided at the 15th annual competition in Milan.

The Reventon qualified as the winner in the Special Models category; the C-class in Medium Sedan over the Audi A4; the A5 beating the BMW 1-series in the Coupe class; and the Opel garnering the Convertible title over the second-place finisher, BMW's 3-series. Other winners included: Fiat 500 (city car), Fiat Bravo (lower medium), Lexus LS600h (large sedan), Aston Martin DBS (sports car), Mercedes-Benz C-class wagon (umm... er, wagon), Volkswagen Tiguan (crossover), and Renault Laguna coupe concept (ummm.... concepts).

Other so-called beauties that nearly came out on top: Mazda 2, Nissan Qashqai, Volvo V70, Maserati GranTurismo, and Peugeot 308. Clearly, this competition really should be renamed. "Most Impressive Design", perhaps? "Visual Stunners", maybe? Is the Volkswagen Tiguan a "beautiful" crossover? No, beauty is the mark of something particularly graceful, ornamental, or of excellent quality. The Tiguan just happens to be the best-looking cute-ute of 2007. The DBS, GranTurismo, and Laguna coupe all deserve the word "beautiful" to be part of the description.

2006 saw cars like the Volvo C30, Ferrari 599GTB Fiorano, and even the Audi Q7 make the list.
