Top 5 Best-Selling Trucks In Canada - May 2011

A more complete look at the whole pickup truck segment coming soon, so a quick scan of some important figures will suffice after glancing at this chart of Canada's Top 5 Best-Selling Trucks from May.

Ford F-Series sales were down 10% from 8332 in May 2010. Ford can be excused for its Ranger decline - the small pickup has been cancelled in North America even as global markets receive an all-new replacement. Year-over-year, Dodge Ram sales shot up 25%. The Chevrolet Silverado took a hard hit, falling from 4035 to 2197, a 21% drop. The GMC Sierra also struggled, down 13% in May. Sales of other General Motors pickups, from the Cadillac Escalade EXT to the Chevrolet Avalanche and GM's Colorado/Canyon twins, fell hard and fast. GM, as a whole, was down 11.5% in May

Finally, sales of the Toyota Tundra dropped 5%, a figure that's not at all bad when compared with its smaller sibling's results. In May 2010, Toyota sold 761 Tacomas. Last month, Toyota sold just 473. Toyota breaks down their truck sales quite nicely: only 5% of Tundra buyers didn't opt for a 4x4. 10.1% of Tacoma buyers went with rear-wheel drive.
