GALLERY - CHRYSLER 200C EV CONCEPT - 26 PHOTOS

Wouldn't it be nice if all those "Buy American" believers wouldn't have to downgrade their expectations in order to fulfill their ideology? It'd mean that, not only would Ford's 2010 Fusion and the Chevrolet Malibu strike Toyota and Honda where it hurts, but Chrysler would too.

Chrysler's 300 was a start. In that price and size class, however, Chrysler wasn't hitting the mainstream. The Sebring resides where Chrysler most needs credibility. Credibility and Sebring?

In steps the 200C EV Concept at the Detroit auto show. Imagine this: high-end technology and superior styling.... hopefully mixed with quality and durability. Chrysler would have a winner, right?

The only thing we don't know about the production possibilities of a Chrysler 200 is the reliability/perceived quality quotient. As far as design and technology go, Chrysler goes far with this car. Like the Chevrolet Volt, the 200C EV is basically an electric car with a range-extending gasoline engine, able to travel up to 40 miles without igniting the internal combustion engine.
