After you express the obvious, "Finally", your next thought must've copied all the other reactions. "Man, this is like Hyundai copying Lexus, Lexus copying Mercedes-Benz." Yeah, the next Honda Insight is a sharp turn away from the first-generation Insight that hit the market a decade ago but is a shockingly accurate Honda-like recreation of the almighty hybrid from Toyota, the Prius.
It has been suggested that Honda will price the Insight below $20,000 in the USA. At that price, they'll hope to sell 100,000; doubling that total when accounting for worldwide intake. In fact, the press release says that the lowering cost of high-tech components will make the Insight the most affordable hybrid to date.
Typically Honda, we don't see this vehicle years ahead of its on-sale date. The Insight will be available to you - to some of you - before the summer of 2009. If you want to get up close, fly to the Paris auto show where the Insight will make its live debut. I'm sure there's more to come. Plenty more.
