Jeep Wrangler sales shot up 48.2% from March 2011's 1282 total in a market which grew just 4.2%. Year-over-year, Wrangler sales improved by 85.5% in a market which grew 6.9%. There were thousands of Canadian SUV buyers who didn't choose a Jeep Wrangler in April 2011, but this was a landmark month for the most SUVish sport-utility vehicle on sale in Canada today. In no other month in history has Chrysler Canada sold more Wranglers. Moreover, Chrysler Canada also had the country's best-selling utility vehicle of all, the revamped 2011 Dodge Journey. 

The Journey was overhauled and is much better than it once was. But why do Canadians love the Dodge Journey so much more than their American counterparts? South of the border, where the overall size of the market was seven times bigger in April, Dodge Journey sales were just 1.31 times stronger. 

In the U.S., Journey pricing starts at $22,245 and runs up to $31,745 for the Journey Lux. In Canada, where the Journey makes an appearance before one's eyes constantly, pricing starts at $18,995 and tops out with a $6525-optioned-up AWD R/T at $35,520. Yes, the Journey is more competitive in 2011. In Canada, it has value on its side, too.

Dodge and Jeep combined to sell 8074 utility vehicles in Canada in April. That's way more than Ford/Lincoln's 6301 and significantly more than GM's 5420, both of which were beaten by Hyundai/Kia's 6584 utility vehicle sales.
