Real SUVs or not, the ten vehicles listed in the Graph below are the dominant sellers in their respective categories: large crossovers, full-size SUVs, small CUVs. Label them how you please; for the purposes of GoodCarBadCar.net's Best Selling SUVs in May, these are the most popular sport-utility vehicles in America.
Chevrolet certainly figured out how to sell vehicles on the non-car side of their lineup in May. Three members of the Top 10 - small and large crossovers and a traditional jumbo SUV - are from the bow-tie brand. The Ford Escape and Ford Edge finished first and third in May, helping Ford to its 175K total sales figure in May. Considering the vast number of automakers competing in the United States, top 10 ownership is held by only five automakers (General Motors with the Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Equinox, and Chevrolet Tahoe; Ford with the Escape and Edge, Toyota with the RAV4 and Lexus RX; Honda with the CR-V and Pilot; and the Jeep Wrangler).
