Early last month The Good Car Guy reported on the Nissan Cube / Kia Soul sales war being waged in North America. Detailed month-by-month, the sales war turned out to be a slaughter in Canada and and a beating in the United States.
September's Sales Stats for the Nissan Cube and Kia Soul can be seen below. The Cube continues its struggle to gain traction north of the 49th parallel. Nissan's Versa is out-selling the Cube by a ratio of about 6-1. The more similarly-priced Sentra, meanwhile, holds an edge of more than 4-1 in September. Over at Kia, where its Forte sales are far stronger than sales of the former Spectra in the Sentra/Civic/Corolla category, the Kia Soul only trailed the mainstream sedan by about 117 units in September.
South of the border, Cube sales for Nissan USA are more respectable. Only when combining Versa and Sentra sales does the Cube's quantity look tiny. Neither car outsells the Cube by much more than 2 or 2.5-1. Kia's Optima (Magentis in Canada), Forte, and Rio each outperform the Soul, the Optima at about 2.5-1 and the two small sedans at much, much tighter ratios.
