In truth, the Times delved much deeper into the so-called American cars. Were the employees who assembled the vehicle unionized; where do the engines and transmissions come from? And, in many cases, vehicles could be assembled in the USA with engines from different countries; not just the one. Not only that, but the design could have taken place on the other side of the world or just down the street from the factory. Although informative, this list is by no means all-encompassing.
