LINK AND TECH OF THE DAY: Live Racing From Your Sofa

GoodCarBadCar.net is displaying some slight design changes today; hopefully soft enough that all you'll manage to notice is a more enjoyable viewing experience. Open concept, we'll call it. While those changes are being signed off, direct your attention to the BBC

News has surfaced that a company named iOpener Media wants you to drive amongst real live race action through your gaming system. Sure, your Xbox 360 or Playstation3 won't enable the on-circuit drivers to see and respond to you - but you'll be forced to respond to their actions.

Problems that inevitably surface include, but are not limited to: connections, ease-of-success, and expense. The first problem arises at random when you enlist your system to battle with friend and foe, so that's nothing new. Secondly, some people love winning. Traditionally, games have overestimated the capability of the car/user combo and allowed the gamer to perform more successfully than possible in the non-virtual world, aka, the "real" world. The latter issue is an obvious factor with any new technology; one that would be lessened if the data from the race is saveable or recordable, thereby offering the in-home gamer time apart from the actual race day to compete in "that race". Follow the link to catch the details.
