TURKISH GP RESULTS

Felipe Massa capitalized on his pole position for third year in a row at Istanbul to take first place in the Turkish Grand Prix. Ferrari's other car, driven by last year's world champ Kimi Raikkonen, came third.

Mercedes powered McLaren's phenom Lewis Hamilton to a second place finish, aided in no small way by an excellent pit strategy. Lewis was a half second ahead of Raikkonen but a full 3.7 seconds behind Ferrari's Massa. Heikki Kovalainen raced his McLaren-Mercedes to 12th position.

BMW's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld finished on the lead lap in fourth and fifth, respectively. Renault's Alonso and Piquet 53.7 seconds and over a lap back, respectively; in seventh and fifteenth. Renault's V8 engines performed well enough in the Red Bull cars of Mark Webber and David Coulthard to nab a couple points on Webber's account. Coulthard was ninth.

The Ferrari-powered Red Bull cars (Scuderia Toro Rossa) were way back in the field. In fact, Sebastien Bourdais completed just 24 laps, while Sebastian Vettel was the rearmost finisher, in 17th. For Ferrari's engines, that leaves the Force India cars. Adrian Sutil completed the race (Fisichella didn't complete a lap) but was a way back in 16th.

Jenson Button and Rubens Barichello drove their Honda's to 11th and 14th, neither of them on the lead lap when Massa took the chequered flag. In previous weeks, Honda engines were found in Super Aguris as well, but the Super Aguri season ended prematurely earlier this week.

Toyota's factory cars of Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock were outside of the points in tenth and 13th. The Williams team and their Toyota V8s captured a point with Nico Rosberg's eight place result. Kazuki Nakajima, however, only made one loop of the Istanbul circuit.

Ferrari's lead in the team championship is now 19 points over BMW; BMW leading McLaren-Mercedes by a couple. Force India remains the only competing team not to have finished a race in the points, while, as previously mentioned, Super Aguri is done.
