CAR with the 8c, 430 Scuderia & Maser GT to Monaco

CAR magazine, a less performance-oriented car mag than you'd wish it to be but still full of great features and opinion, had the privilege of driving an incredible selection of Italian V8 two-doors. One of the world's most beautiful - Alfa Romeo's 8c Competizione. One of the world's highest-performing production cars - Ferrari's 430 Scuderia. And, the least expensive way to find most of that beauty and plenty of that performance - Maserati's GranTurismo.

Ironically, three of Italy's great and historic brands are wrapped up under the Fiat Group, and all three of these cars share basic V8 architecture, with engine capacity varying between 4.2L in the Maser to 4.7L in the Alfa. The Ferrari's 4.3L is the highest-strung, and wound very tight indeed.

Enjoy the scenery.
