FUEL ECONOMY IN CAR AND DRIVER FEBRUARY 2010

You know how fast they are, now find out how economical Car & Driver's February test vehicles are. Although fuel efficiency information regarding C/D's Lightning Lap participants has been rendered unavailable, one would understand the nature of a vehicle's fuel economy readings when under such duress wouldn't connect with the real world. Still, those Numbers would have been interesting.

Unsurprisingly, the most fuel efficient car in C/D's February lineup uses a diesel engine. The new TDI version of the sixth-generation Volkswagen Golf is rated as a 30/42mpg car by the EPA. C/D's hard-driving ways, and the result you'll see below, are rather impressive on VW's count.
