FUEL ECONOMY IN CAR AND DRIVER APRIL 2009

Popular support for fuel efficiency rises and falls with the price of gasoline. True, the desire for fuel efficiency also walks merrily through the meadow hand-in-hand with the desires of environmentalists for clean air; something that has nothing to do with the price of fuel except to say that more expensive fuel makes for less fuel used.

That being said, while Car And Driver puts vehicles through their paces (15 of them in its April issue) to determine quickness in the 0-60 test, the editors also calculate the fuel economy of their test cars. Don't ignore the EPA... yet. But Car & Driver, and GoodCarBadCar's Driven section, along with plenty of other publications, do their level best to discover real-world fuel economy. Here are the results from C/D's April issue, listed for no particular reason in order of sippiness.
